Mission

The goal at IMS is to enable each child to develop his or her own individual gifts and talents within a caring, supportive, respectful and bilingual learning community.

IMS provides the highest quality education possible with a strong emphasis on the academics,in a child-oriented, creative and bilingual learning environment that nourishes each child’s innate desire to learn and discover, enabling each child to move at his or her own pace and to reach their own highest academic potential.

The Montessori environment for Toddlers, young learners and primary aged children makes this Mission possible.

Here’s what you will find in a Montessori Environment, and at IMS:

  • The Montessori philosophy recognizes that children have a natural drive that inspires them to reach their potential.  Their minds are like fertile fields, and their inherent love of learning is stimulated when they are given opportunities to engage in meaningful activities with the proper balance of autonomy and guidance from specially trained teachers.
  • In a Montessori classroom, children engage in interactive, enquiry-based learning.  The environment is carefully prepared by a fully certified Montessori educator.
  • Students use Montessori learning materials at each phase of their education to learn increasingly complex concepts.  These hands-on tools are concrete complements to written materials and other classroom activities.
  • The highly social atmosphere of this environment stems from a unique combination of freedom and structure founded on respect and responsibility.  A Montessori education fosters the fullest development of a child’s academic and personal potential and provides a foundation for a life of joyful and successful learning.  Research indicates that this methodology gives children a significant advantage in their long-term academics, and encourages great independence and confidence.
  • Today over 7,000 Montessori teacher training centers and schools exist on all continents, bearing witness to the success and brilliance of this educational approach. Over 20% of these schools are now educating children through age 12, and almost 5% are now offering well-regarded secondary programs.  Interest in Montessori education is increasing, and more and more children the world over are being educated from infancy through primary school in the Montessori system.
